Henry Chin leads CBRE’s global team of nearly 600 research experts who help clients understand the forces shaping the commercial real estate industry.
An experienced real estate strategist, Dr. Chin regularly shares his insights with clients and journalists, and is a frequent presenter at key global and regional academic and industry conferences.
Prior to his promotion to his current role in March 2025, Dr. Chin served as Global Chief Operating Officer for CBRE Research. In this role he was responsible for the operational excellence of the global research platform and ensuring that research strategies are differentiated from competitors and aligned with business plans. He also held a second global position as Head of Investor Thought Leadership across all regions, overseeing field research and econometric advisors.
Dr. Chin joined CBRE in 2014 as Head of Research, Asia Pacific. From 2019-2020 he also served as Head of Research, EMEA.
Before joining CBRE, Dr. Chin was Head of Asia Pacific research and strategy at PGIM (formerly Pramerica Real Estate Investors), Prudential Financials Inc., where he was responsible for leading the company’s Asia Pacific real estate investment strategy. Henry also spent several years with Deutsche Bank Group, where he had numerous roles ranging from global real estate strategist based in London to co-head of real estate for Asia Pacific for their private banking business. Dr. Chin began his career as lead Asian real estate analyst for DTZ in London.
Dr. Chin is an Adjunct Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and an Assistant Professor at National Taipei University (Taiwan). He is also a member of Urban Land Institute (ULI), Asian Public Real Estate Association (APREA), Asia Non-listed Real Estate Vehicles (ANREV), International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC), SFC Hong Kong, HKSI and UKSIP. He served as a chairman of ANREV’s research committee from 2011 to 2014. He holds an Investment Management Certificate (IMC) in the UK.
Dr. Chin has over 20 years of research experience in the global real estate markets. He holds a BA in Land Economic and Administration from National Taipei University (Taiwan); an MSc in Real Estate from the University of Reading (UK) and a PhD in Real Estate Investment from Oxford Brookes University (UK).
